"New racism, anti-multiculturalism, or just the old xenophobia?"
cfp, Annual Conference of the German Studies Association, Louisville,
Kentucky, Sept 22-25, 2011
Is there a new racism in Germany and Europe? Or a "new new racism",
after the first wave of the late 1980s and early 1990s? What are the
discursive and political shifts that characterize current debates on
multiculturalism, immigration and urban difference? How does it work in
specific discourses, settings, policies, and locations? What kinds of
resistance and critique have emerged to deal with the new political
respectability of anti-multiculturalism?
Please note that for the GSA all presenters must be members at the time
of abstract submission, but it's only 55$ for full-time faculty.
For expressions of interest, please get in touch with Ulrich Best
