Dear Colleagues
We are undertaking work with the Scottish Commissioner for Children and Young People (SCCYP, http://www.sccyp.org.uk/), on how to involve young children (age 3-6) in decisions that impact on them as a group. For example, children might be involved in decisions about their child care service, local park or national policy.
We are avidly looking for examples of effective methods to involve this age range (while located in Scotland, taking account of differences such as gender, culture and ability). In particular, we are looking for methods that have had some evaluation, or at least critical reflection.
There was a great exchange in 2008, on this list, about involving young children and we are following up all those leads. We would warmly welcome any further references, links to resources or particular contacts. We will ensure that all assistance is recognised and attributed, within the documentation to SCCYP.
We are on a very short time scale, as SCCYP want to use the findings to influence their next participation exercise, so a quick reply would be gratefully received. It is a great opportunity to influence practice in Scotland!
Yours sincerely
