Subject: One Day Early Career Events: Manchester & London
http://www.c-sap.bham.ac.uk/events/details/106-early-career-networking-event-for-social-scientists-manchester-a-london
Tuesday 22 March 2011
ACADEMIC PRACTICE ROOM, MANCHESTER METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY
11.00am – 3.00pm
FREE REGISTRATION
Following a very successful two-day event for early career Social Scientists last December we are now running two one-day events in March. These will be followed by two more in May/June (hopefully in the South-West and Midlands and possibly Scotland) and a further two-day event in June in Birmingham.
The events will be of particular interest to recently-appointed teaching staff, post docs and post-graduates with teaching responsibilities. The emphasis is on addressing practical issues and the realities of balancing academic roles when people might be located either in specialist subject or multi-disciplinary departments.
The programme has been developed from feedback given by participants at previous events and is designed to provide opportunities for networking and sharing experiences. There will be no PowerPoint presentations or lengthy input from facilitators. Rather, we would like participants to bring their own good ideas, issues or problems around the three main themes – learning and teaching, e-learning and career development.
