Bristol, Friday 1 and Saturday 2 April
This two-day meeting will celebrate the life and work of the late Julian
Besag. All are welcome to attend.
The afternoon of Friday 1 April will be a memorial gathering for Julian,
preceded by refreshments, and followed by a Drinks reception and early
evening Dinner.
Saturday 2 April will be a one-day scientific Symposium covering some of
the many areas of statistical science to which Julian made major
contributions during his distinguished career. Speakers will include
Peter Diggle (Lancaster), Stephen Duffy (Wolfson Institute of Preventive
Medicine), Leo Held (Zurich) and Debashis Mondal (Chicago). We also plan
a poster session, and would welcome contributions.
There will be no charge for attendance other than to cover meals, which
must be ordered in advance. The Symposium is sponsored by SuSTaIn
(http://sustain.bris.ac.uk/).
If you would like to attend on either or both days, please contact
[log in to unmask] to receive full details including a detailed
programme and advice on local accommodation, when these are available.
We do need to know who is coming in order to be able to complete
practical and domestic arrangements. Please also let us know if you
would like to contribute a personal reminiscence for the Friday session
and/or a poster for the Saturday meeting.
Updates to the programme will be posted at
