Applications are invited for a Research Assistant/Associate Statistician to
work in the Health Economic and Decision Science(HEDS) section at the
University of Sheffield primarily providing support to health technology
assessment, including the synthesis of evidence from randomised controlled
trials and observational data to inform the assessment of effectiveness and
cost effectiveness of interventions including drugs, devices and wider
services for agencies such as the National Institute for Health and Clinical
Excellence (NICE) the National Institute for Health research (NIHR) and
others. The work will involve collaboration in multi disciplinary teams and
the application of techniques to synthesise evidence, including Bayesian
network meta-analyses, as well as further development of methodolgy in this
area.
You will provide expert statistical support to characterise and analyse
uncertainty in decision analytic models, identify and develop new
statistical methods, and publish research methods and findings in
peer-reviewed scientific journals. You will be encouraged to develop your
own methodological research interests that are complementary to those within
the Centre for Bayesian Statistics in Health Economics (CHEBS) and
contribute to Masters level teaching and supervision
You will work with senior health economists and statisticians during the
project, and will be involved in the dissemination of findings at scientific
conferences and in peer-reviewed journals. Applicants should have a Masters
degree or equivalent in Statistics or in another highly numerate subject for
example, mathematics, operational research or economics for Grage 6, or a
PhD for Grade 7.
This post is fixed-term, for two years, and is available immediately.
