3-year PhD studentship in genetic/nutritional epidemiology - To evaluate the
role vitamin D has on mental health
This is an exciting opportunity to join MRC Centre of Epidemiology for Child
Health, UCL Institute of Child Health, to undertake PhD studies on a
multidisciplinary project aiming to evaluate the role vitamin D has on
mental health. The project is supervised by Dr Elina Hypponen, and it
provides an excellent training opportunity and the possibility of
collaboration with well-known experts from various fields, including mental
health, genetics and genetic epidemiology. The research is based primarily
on the rich data from the 1958 British birth cohort (1958BC), but some of
the work is done in the context of a large international consortia of
studies. A full project description is available on request.
Applicants should have, or expect to receive a first class honours or an
upper second class degree in epidemiology or other relevant discipline
(statistics, nutrition, genetics, psychology). The student will receive a
starting stipend of £15,740 per annum as well as the cost of tuition fees
for UK/EU students (applicants from non-EU countries can apply but will have
to personally fund the difference between the home/EU rate and the overseas
rate).
To apply, please send a current CV including the contact details of two
