Research Associates in Population Health (x2 Posts)
Salary £26,860 - £39,130 per annum
The MRC-HPA Centre for Environment and Health is looking for two Research Associates with methodological and empirical interests to join the Environment and Population Health research team at Imperial College London.
This is an exciting opportunity for two ambitious researchers, to carry out groundbreaking research on the global, national, and subnational trends and health impacts of population health risks, either empirically or in the application of advanced computational and/or statistical methods.
You will join an internationally-renowned group that conducts cutting-edge research on population exposure and health impacts of major environmental, metabolic, and nutritional risk factors. The position will be supervised by Professor Majid Ezzati and both post holders will also work closely with leading biostatisticians and epidemiologists in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and at the MRC-HPA Centre for Environment and Health.
The ideal candidate for each of these posts will have excellent qualifications, including a PhD or equivalent in Applied Mathematics (Computational) Statistics, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or a related discipline.
As relevant to the specific post, they should have good knowledge of hierarchical regression models, Bayesian statistics, and spatial and/or time-series statistics, or strong quantitative and statistics background.
Experience of programming in relevant language, including R, C, or Stata, for either post is required. Applicants should have exceptional academic record, be highly motivated, extremely organised with experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
The MRC-HPA Centre for Environment and Health has core funding from the Medical Research Council and Health Protection Agency held jointly between Imperial College and King's College London. It aims to be an international centre of excellence for research and training on the effects of environmental pollutants and the translation of the knowledge acquired into international and national policy.
These full time posts are for two years in the first instance and are based at the St Mary's Hospital campus, Paddington in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
