Dear all,
I was hoping someone in the group may be able to advise me. At Surrey we use salary bands, but only for Research Council bids. When we originally investigated the option of using the bands with David Leinster from Allocate though, he advised that you could only use 1 band for each salary level. This presented us with a problem, as our Professorial scale is 1 level and very wide ranging, so we have a number of bands within this.
The alternative solution we came up with was to add academics manually, typing their names in for these bids using the “Non-standard staff using payscale” option.
I learnt though when I looked at the report functionality that this presented us with a problem and this is now doubly so as we want to look at creating an interface between pFACT and our research database.
The problem in both cases is that we are missing the staff Unique ID link.
I thought possibly we could add an academic twice, once with their ID with 0 effort and then again manually as we are now typing their name in via “Non-standard staff using payscale”, but you can only have one PI, so not only would this look messy, but information may not be displayed correctly.
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on what we might be able to do?
Thanks in Advance,
Mark Gravell,
Surrey
