The UCRG (Northern) annual visit gives you a professional development opportunity to learn more about an institution or organisation. New College Durham was awarded Grade 1, outstanding for all 5 key areas by OFSTED (June 2009). Performance and success rates places the college in the top 10% of all colleges nationally. The visit to New College Durham will include a tour of the LRC, a chance to meet staff and discuss their roles. Finally, there will be a discussion on: FE perspectives of information literacy, and moving onto HE.

This visit is limited to 30 places, so bookings will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Bookings must be made by 1st April 2011 to enable refreshments to be arranged. In the event of more people wanting to attend than spaces available, a reserve list will be kept.

The building is totally accessible, with easy access to the LRC from the ground floor and lift access to the first floor areas. There is a hearing loop system installed around the ground floor counter. Guide dogs can be accommodated but prior warning would be very helpful.

The college has a large car park and visitors are allowed to park anywhere in there. The college is well served by buses from the Bus Station/North Road, including the following services: Go North East 21, Go North East 20X, Arriva X2/X1 & 7 (ask for the stop near The Salutation pub or the college). If you come by train it is a 20 minute walk (approx). This involves tackling a steep hill. You can walk into the city and get buses from the Bus station/North Road quite easily.
