Includes feature from Drew Whitworth on information literacy for postgraduate researchers at the University of Manchester.
ABSTRACT: A recent project at the University of Manchester has addressed the skills needed by postgraduate researchers as they try to create original research in the face of a glut of information. The effective use of information is not just a matter of reducing its quantity, but improving quality, and working with learners to help them understand how it affects their ability to form knowledge at personal, organisational and societal levels. To address this, the project produced an open educational resource based around the ‘six frames of information literacy’ model.
