The spring session of the US State legislatures have been incredibly busy with bills related to assisted suicide. Bills are being debated in Hawaii, Montana, Idaho, Vermont New Hampshire, Wyoming, Washington and Pennsylvania.
Congratulations to those who worked in Hawaii and Montana to successfully defeat bills to legalize assisted suicide and to the people who have worked to get a bill through committee that clarifies the assisted suicide law in Idaho, even though assisted suicide is currently illegal in Idaho.
Bills to legalize euthanasia are will be debated in the Australian federal parliament and in the State legislature in Tasmania. The Quebec government, Dying with Dignity commission continues to travel the province for input
The Third International Symposium on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide is in beautiful Vancouver British Columbia on June 3 - 4, 2011. The theme for the Symposium is: Celebrating our Successes; Preparing for New Challenges.
You will learn from people who have organized campaigns in Australia, Scotland, Canada and the US at the Third International Symposium. The Symposium will create a clear, effective and unified response to euthanasia and assisted suicide.

An excellent article by Margaret Dore, elder law attorney, has been published in the Vermont Bar Association Journal. This is one of the best articles published concerning the assisted suicide statutes in Oregon and Washington States and the legislative proposals that have been pushed in states throughout the US.
