Scholarship Description
An Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) PhD scholarship associated
with LP110100180 is available in the Dept of Environment & Geography
at Macquarie University. The successful candidate will be part of an
international multi-disciplinary team working to improve cultural
heritage management outcomes from mining operations at Weipa in Far
Nth QLD, Australia, where industry partner RioTintoAlcan P/L extracts
bauxite. The project involves investigating landscape change along
the estuarine margins of the Mission, Pine, Hey and Embley Rivers and
developing a chronology of landscape change. These outputs will be
integrated with archaeological and palaeoenvironmental data to
understand past human-environment interactions. Applicants should have
a research background in geomorphology or other terrestrial
geoscience.
