Well, the requirement in the JDL is a job slot requirement in that it
applies to a particular job. Whether the published limit should be per
job slot is an old debate, and I think it really depends on what your
batch system does. If jobs are killed when they exceed the limit, as
they are at RAL, then the limit is what should be published. However, if
you have no hard limit then it's more usual to publish the physical
memory in the machine, on the basis that jobs may be able to get up to
that value if they happen to run on their own (or if the scheduler can
ensure that they do).
