Dear All,
You have probably received an email on Friday from Eva Robbrecht similar to that below. I want to provide some background and encourage you to register the assets which you are responsible for. The incentitive for registraion is these assets will then be considered in the planning for better use of European space weather assets, i.e. you will have extra leverage for funding from national and European sources.
This is a survey of European space weather assets being conducted under one of the contracts for the ESA Space Situational Awareness programme - specifically the contract SN-I led by the Belgians. This running in parallel with the SN-II contract on space instruments and the CO-I contract on SSA architecture.
The reason Eva has contacted you is that your name is on the latest spreadsheet of UK assets. Please let me know if you have any queries.
If there are any relevant assets missing from the spreadsheet, please feel free add them or to encourage colleagues to do so.
Cheers,
Mike

Subject: SSA - Space Weather: invitation to participate
Dear colleague,
We are contacting you in the framework of ESA's Space Situational Awareness programme (SSA - http://www.esa.int/esaMI/SSA/index.html). At the request of ESA, we are performing an analysis and evaluation of existing Space Weather assets. A preliminary list has been compiled by ESA from inputs received from your national delegates.
As a first step, we invite you to register in the SSA SN-1 asset database.
There are 3 steps to perform:
1. register yourself (if you haven't done so already) using the following link:
http://catalogue.ssa-sn1.eu/index.php?page=registration&token=ef4754168c08dbf5fd84c90f479a90bd
2. Add your organisation (the legal entity) and/or subsidiary (i.e. division or section of your organisation), if it is not already in the database.
3. Add one or more Space Weather assets (data, instruments, models, tools, forecasts, ... anything that could be useful for a space weather user).
This email is sent to you because you are listed as the contact person for the following asset(s):
Ionosonde in Slough, Falklands
STIF
Clustran
If you are not the right contact person for the above asset(s), please forward this invitation to the relevant person.
You are welcome to forward this invitation to any service provider or user you think would be interested in participating in the SWE SSA programme.
We encourage you to use this opportunity to become part of ESA's future Space Weather community!
Best regards,
On behalf of the SN-1 consortium,
Eva Robbrecht
Royal Observatory of Belgium
