Hi all,
Happy New Year!
I thought some members might be interested in this posting which has the potential to point to new areas in which IRM should/could be playing a role http://mashable.com/2010/12/20/data-predictions/
I really like the phrase under prediction five that "Data is cool, people. Data is having its moment in the sun." Records managers should be fitting into this picture and playing their role. These predictions, whilst emphasizing programming skills, do highlight the need for softer information management skills tied into business processes.
I thought I would also note here that I am a fan of the work Peter K puts into generating software to search for relevant articles for this community - I personally find it an invaluable service. But what is also of note is that there is so much press generated on information related matters which are relevant to this community but are not tied into the IRM world. It would be great to get data predictions that also mention IRM professionals' skills and value.
Let's hope that 2012 predicts that "records are even cooler than data".
