Catherine's comment is a good one.
Also worth having a look for the work undertaken about 7 or 8 years ago
by the then The Health Development Agency. They ran a series of mid-life
interventions among them were some pre-retirement pilots of which one
was in Hull and another in Sandwell. I will try and remember the
contacts and let you know. The Sandwell ones was run by Age Concern (now
Age UK).
The best work (in my opinion) on older workers and what interventions
during your working life have a positive effect post retirement is the
work done by the Finnish Institute of OH by Illmarinen and his
colleague. If interested look up the papers on 'work-ability'.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Benefits of phased retirement.
Dear List:
Does anyone out there have any valid studies (or any MSc dissertations
lying around the house!) on the health benefits (or any benefits) of a
graduated or phased approach to retirement? Such as reducing the days /
hours of work over a period of time leading to the end of ones working
life (rather than reducing the type of work done).
Thank you with much anticipation.
James
