Just to mire things further. There was a J.B. Fell who was a light railway
theorist/ builder. Initially active in Cumbria he was involved in the South
West with the Pentewan Railway and the Torrington and Marland.
I wonder if there is any connection?
Rick

Subject: Fell again
Hi List
While on Joseph Fell I want to warn the list that there is a great big red
herring for the researcher in that there was a notable mining and smelting
family up north named Fell, and that Joseph Fell is no relation at all.
A Robert Fell is very likely from that family and was a shareholder at
Joseph Fells Talybont company, being on the shareholders list with Joseph a
researcher will wonder if they are brothers, not so.
To make matters worse, Fells speech referred to by me before, and to the
shareholders at Polgooth included: "My father was born at Polgooth 98 years
ago and I as a child often heard him speak of the wonderful riches produced
by the old bal in those days".
His father was a servant! However, this could be more confusion for the
researcher. In any event, its well worth reading, like I said, a class act
(MJ Sept 25, 1886)
I just thought it a good idea to mention this.
For the benefit of Chris and Rick etc, Fell was involved in many Devon mines
including Polgooth, Polyear, and Tregontrees etc, as was Fastnedge who I
suspected was interested in an exclusive source of tin for his east India
trading.
Regards
Roy
