I would like to support Michelle's point. I don't think Steve West having his email box filled with lots of individual emails about an issue that is Sue Fox's responsibility is going to go down well. He has been made aware of the complaint and that is sufficient I think.

I've written to the Events team first, to allow them the opportunity to reply before going higher. I appreciate that the VC should know our feeling, but I feel it is a good idea to address people directly before going 'above their heads", especially in a precarious employment climate. I imagine the events team don't realise the implications of what they are promoting and the way they are promoting it, and I imagine many of them are women.

Given the university’s commitment to equal opportunities and an established track record of research that challenges the conventional emphasis on women’s body image this is institutionally incoherent and clearly sexist. If UWE wises to promote good health amongst its staff the focus should be on that – and the promotion should include both men and women.
