I think SGE changed.
The gridengine package in Ubuntu 10.10 repository installs Grid Engine 6.2u4 (mainly in /usr/lib/gridengine/, /usr/share/gridengine/ . "About" tab in qmon GUI reports: "Grid Engine is based on code donated by Sun Microsystems..."
In this environment, there are no "SGE_ROOT" nor "/usr/local/share/sge/default/common/setting.sh" (nor any "sge" directory, of course) that fsl_sub look for to set-up parallelization in FSL.
