HKRAC is seeking the following information on behalf of an asylum seeker
that has sought our assistance.
The asylum seeker is from Aba, Abia State, Nigeria, was an active member
in the Umoro Autonomous Community political party, and was involved in
the pursuit of Umoro independence from the Umudi Autonomous Community.
Any information you have regarding the following would be extremely
helpful and is much appreciated:
1. Information on the Umoro Autonomous Community political group.
2. Information on the Umudi Autonomous Community political group.
3. Any information on the 2007 election, in which leaders of the Umoro
Autonomous Community were elected.
4. Any information on the 2008 election (in which the Umoro Autonomous
community voted to determine whether they should formally separate from
the Umudi Autonomous Community, and be recognised as an autonomous
community of their own) would be helpful.
5. Did the Umoro Autonomous Community achieve independence from the
Umudi Autonomous Community following the 2008 election or anytime
thereafter?
6. The population of the Umoro and Umudi communities.
7. Information on one of the leaders of the Umudi Autonomous Community,
known as “Chief” or “Al Haji”.
8. Information on the treatment/persecution of Umoro Autonomous
Community members by the Umudi group.
9. Information on Christian/Muslim conflict in Katsina in the early 1990s.
10. Information on Christian/Muslim conflict in Jos in 2000.
