Aren't you thinking of _The Penguin Book of *Socialist* Verse_, Jesse?
He also edited McDiarmid's Letters, and wrote a biography of him -- I think
McDiarmid contributed an introduction to his first pamphlet, Way Back When.
Two (or was it four?) lines of his have always stuck in my head:
As well as being a scientist,
Sir Humphry Davy was a poet.
Enough said ...
As to where he is today, dunno.
(Oh, the other thing I remember about him, seeing him read in the sixties,
was that he used a cigarette machine to roll his cigarettes. Go figure.)
