POST-DOC Uni Assistant (4 yr) at Vienna University of Technology

The Institute for Design and Assessment of Technology (Human Computer
Interaction Group) at the Vienna University of Technology has an open
full-time post-doctoral position (University Assistant) for the duration
of 4 years, starting March 2011 or as soon as possible.
The position will involve 50% research, 40% teaching and 10%
administration. The successful candidate is expected to play a key role
in helping establish a research agenda in collaboration with the Head of
the Group on topic(s) of core interest (see below) and to contribute to
the undergraduate and post-graduate teaching commitments of the group.
REQUIREMENTS:
• PhD degree
• Qualifications in informatics, software engineering or related
people-technology-design area (e.g., HCI/user centered design, CSCW,
design, ubiquitous computing, health informatics, social informatics).
• A defined research perspective that can be applied to one or more of
the following areas related to people, technology and quality of life:
healthcare, telecare, assisted living; older people; health and
well-being, motivation and behaviour change, personal development;
social networking, mediated social interaction and collaboration;
sustainability.
• Good technical skills and able to work in multi-disciplinary ways
• Peer reviewed publications in high quality venues
• Excellent knowledge of English
• Excellent communication skills
DESIRABLE requirements:
• Experience conducting and analyzing user studies, especially using
qualitative methods; experience with mixed methods also desirable.
• Experience with sensor, tangible, mobile and/or locative technologies
• Interest/experience in translating relevant social science theories
for design eg from sociology, psychology, social neuroscience.
• Evidence of peer community recognition and active engagement
• Good knowledge of German
