Dear colleagues,
ETHICS TRAINING EVENTS FOR RESEARCHERS
The University of Sheffield is currently reviewing its approach to
educational activities on the subject of research ethics and integrity
and would appreciate any information/suggestions from other Universities
on the following 2 issues:
1. What ethics/integrity training do you provide that your researchers
find particularly useful/beneficial? What topics/subject areas does this
training address and what are the modes of delivery (lecture, discussion
groups, online etc.)?
2. Can you recommend any good speakers (internal or external) for
ethics/integrity training events? These may be speakers that you have
engaged yourself for an event, or perhaps you know of particular
academics who may be able to provide a useful viewpoint on certain
ethical issues. In particular, we are currently interested in speakers
on the following subject areas (although suggestions for speakers in
other areas would be welcome too):
- The ethical issues of internet research;
- The requirements of the Mental Capacity Act and assessing mental capacity;
- The ethical issues of conducting research that involves illegal
activities (i.e. research directly into illegal activity, or other
research where researchers may become aware of illegal activities
unintentionally).
I would be very grateful for any ideas/suggestions that you can provide.
Many thanks
Lindsay
