We need a Statistician, Band 6 £25,472 to £34,189 pa, for the Born in Bradford project.
Born in Bradford is one of the largest and most exciting health
research projects in the UK. This family cohort study aims to examine
environmental, psychological and genetic factors that impact on health
and development perinatally, during childhood and subsequent adult life,
and those that influence their parents’ health and wellbeing. Between
2007 and 2010 nearly 14,000 women and their babies have been recruited
to the study. We are now looking to appoint a statistician to the
programme to help support the analysis and writing up of current
research studies and plan for the development of new nested studies.
This is a wonderful opportunity to develop a career based in the
programme. The successful applicant will be a highly motivated
statistician with good oral and written communication and presentation
skills. They will join a team of leading epidemiologists and health
researchers from across the UK who are working in close partnership as
part of Born in Bradford.
Responsibilities of the post will include providing statistical advice
and undertaking statistical analyses to support the research aims of the
study. The post holder will work on a project studying childhood growth
and the development of prediction equations for the early identification
of childhood obesity.
All applicants must hold or be in the process of completing a
postgraduate qualification in medical statistics/epidemiology or
equivalent experience. The post requires someone with methodological
knowledge regarding the analysis of large datasets or epidemiological
studies.
