The Cardiovascular Sciences Research Centre at St. George's, University of London is one of the UK’s premier university departments of cardiovascular medicine. The Research Centre’s overall research objectives are to generate scientific evidence that will help prevent premature death and disability from cardiovascular disease and to help translate this evidence into the development and evaluation of preventative treatments.
The Preventative Cardiology Group is led by the newly appointed Professor of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention (Professor Ray), the scope of the research to be conducted is broad and ranges from systematic reviews and meta-analyses of trials, novel risk factors for cardiovascular disease, as well as local and international cohort studies and clinical trials. It is expected that the Epidemiologist will play a significant role in leading many of these endeavours. It is envisaged that there will be scope for the Epidemiologist in post to develop professionally and take on more senior roles as the group develops.
You will have a relevant qualification, such as a postgraduate degree in Epidemiology or Applied statistics and will be able to demonstrate high-level report writing and presentation skills. You will require excellent quantitative ability and be able to work independently, accurately judge priorities and work to tight deadlines.
