PhD Studentships: Lancaster University
Applications are invited for a number of PhD studentships, available for UK/EU students, at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Lancaster University.
(*) We currently have a 3 year Faculty PhD studentship available in Statistics/Probability. This pays full tuition fee plus maintenance fee of approx. £15,000 per annum (tax free) for UK/EU students.
(*) We have a studentship from NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) for UK/EU students to working on a specific project, titled `Use of established biomarkers to inform clinical trials design for new patient populations or conditions' under the supervision of Dr Thomas Jaki; visit the website

The deadline for COMPLETED application for both the above studentships is 25 February, 2011.
(*) We also have a number of EPSRC PhD studentship available in Statistics and Probability. These 3.5 year studentships pay tuition fees plus a stipend. Stipend values are approx. £15,000 per annum (tax free). Standard Research Council eligibility criteria apply (essentially, open to UK students, or EU students who have been resident in the UK for 3 years).
The deadline for COMPLETED application (including letters of references) is 6 May, 2011.
As one of the UK's most successful statistics groups, the department contains a broad range of interests including Applied Probability, Bayesian and Computational Statistics, Time Series and Extremes, Social Statistics, Medical and Pharmaceutical Statistics. We welcome applications in any of these areas.
The department provides a thriving research environment, with well over 30 PhD students within Statistics and Probability. It runs an extensive range of postgraduate level courses; it is also a founder member of the UK's Academy for PhD Training in Statistics (APTS) and has the UK's only doctoral training centre specialising in Statistics and Operational Research.
