I'm not sure what is more of a waste of time - these types of vote, or
me disseminating news of them (actually, I do know, but fear I'm wasting
my time to some degree).
SPOTLIGHT: LAUNCHING THE ANTIREFORM STRATEGY
The House on Tuesday will launch a floor debate on legislation that
would repeal the federal health reform law, concluding with the final
vote on Wednesday. The bill is expected to pass easily during the
largely "symbolic" vote, but it is unlikely to proceed in the
Democrat-controlled Senate. The chamber was scheduled to vote on the
bill Jan. 12, but House leaders and members unanimously agreed to delay
the vote and shelve the week's legislative agenda after the Jan. 8
shooting in Arizona, which critically injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords
(D-Ariz.). After Wednesday's vote, House Republicans are expected to
shift their focus to more-targeted efforts to modify the health reform
law, some of which likely will garner bipartisan support.
