italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear all,
Many thanks to all those who have already submitted a panel proposal for the 2011 SIS Biennial Conference (St Andrews, 6th-9th July 2011).
To accommodate a number of requests, we have decided to extend the deadline to submit proposals for panels to Friday 4th February.
At this critical moment for Italian studies, both in the UK and beyond, this conference has a particularly important role to play in taking stock of current research, and in helping to identify future directions in the field. Presentations at the conference should therefore discuss work in progress, and we will particularly welcome panels and papers that contribute to a broader discussion of the future of research in Italian studies.
Proposals for panels should focus on work in progress in any field of Italian Studies. Panels should be made up of three papers of no more than 20 minutes and each panel session should not exceed 1 hour and 40 minutes. Participants should note from the outset that time limits will need to be adhered to. Panel proposals for consecutive sessions are welcome, although programming constraints mean that it may be necessary to restrict the number of such sessions in the programme.
Preferably, panel proposals should include:
- Title of the panel
- Name, affiliation, and contact information of the panel organizer
- The topic and issues to be discussed in the panel
- Names and affiliations of panellists (in addition to the panel organizer) who have made a commitment to participate
However, the list of panels will be made public after the 4th of February 2011 and anyone interested in offering a paper to a proposed panel should contact the panel's organizer directly. After that date, it will also be possible to propose individual papers.
