How about getting Nobel prize winner Andre Geim to levitate the Mayor of
London out of the Olympic Stadium at the opening ceremony?

I liked Roland's point about "culture" bids that "have no requirement
for a science-based cultural programme".
Is there going to be any scientific activity among the "cultural"
activities associated with the Olympic Games?
Looks like something that the British Science Association might like to
float.
After all, there is plenty of talk of science and sport.
