Dear Members,

Please find attached information for the development of the scientific programme for the 2012 International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport.

The documents attached contain basic information, a call for parallel sessions including a list with proposals for keynotes and invited symposia developed by the Scientific Committee, as well as organisational information.

As we work with our 3 partners for this 2012 ICSEMIS, we are excited to see the shared commitment to multi-disciplinary and inter-discplinary approaches.

As we mentioned several times during the ICSSPE meetings in Cuba, we expected there to be intense competition for symposium slots, and so it has proved. ICSSPE member organisations proposed a very large number of symposia, and it has not been possible for the International Coordinating Committee to include them all; some have been accepted with minor amendments, suggesting collaboration with similar proposals.

It is now possible to resubmit those proposals which have not been included as "invited symposia"; or to improve them and resubmit them. ICSSPE would like to see a wide range of proposals from members for these open parallel sessions, since there are many more slots available. Please bear in mind, however, that ICSEMIS is not able to support open sessions financially, so speakers and chairs of open sessions must meet their own expenses and convention fees. Many organisations are seeking sponsorship or other financial support for their sessions.

Please also bear in mind, ICSSPE's commitment to gender and regional representation. It would be good to see proposals which genuinely demonstrate diversity in these areas, as well as diversity across disciplines and fields of study.

There will also be a call for individual oral presentations and posters. There will be many opportunities to participate in ICSEMIS 2012.

We look forward to an exciting and rich programme in Glasgow in 2012.

Best wishes,

Margaret Talbot
