Post-Doctoral Position in Functional Neuroimaging available in the Center for
Depression, Anxiety and Stress Research at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical
School
A post-doctoral position in human functional neuroimaging is available at the
Center for Depression, Anxiety and Stress Research at McLean Hospital, the
largest psychiatric facility of Harvard Medical School. The Center - directed
by Diego A. Pizzagalli, Ph.D - embraces a multi-disciplinary approach to improve
our understanding of the psychological, environmental, and neurobiological
factors implicated in depression, anxiety, and related disorders. Upcoming
functional neuroimaging studies in the Center include the investigation of
neural substrates associated with reward processing, emotion regulation, and
increased stress sensitivity in depressed and at-risk individuals. Several
studies also include collection of genetic markers, positron emission tomography
data, and 128-channel event-related potentials, and will thus allow an
integration of various measures to gather a better understanding of the
pathophysiology and etiology of depression.
The successful applicant will have experience in designing, executing, and
analyzing fMRI studies (e.g. with SPM, FSL, FreeSurfer), and a track record in
the neuroimaging literature. A PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychology,
Computer Science or related fields is required. Opportunities will be available
to pursue independent research and interdisciplinary collaborations across the
Harvard community, and mentorship will be provided to launch own,
extramurally-funded research programs. Candidates will have access to
research-dedicated MRI scanners (1.5 T, 3 T, and 4 T) within the McLean Brain
Imaging Center.
To apply, send a CV and a research statement to Andrew Cohen
([log in to unmask]) (Letters of recommendation may be required at a
later stage.) Anticipated start date is June 2011 (although an earlier start
might be arranged), and a two-year commitment is requested (renewal of the
appointment is contingent upon continued funding). Review of applications will
begin immediately. Salary commensurate with experience.
McLean is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Women and members of
minority groups are especially encouraged to apply.
