Parliamentary assistant to Kate Green MP
Based in Westminster
Part-time 10.5 hours per week equivalent, flexible arrangements apply
Salary up to £7,000 (£25,000 pro rata)
Kate’s looking for a part-time parliamentary assistant to work in her Westminster office.
The postholder will provide research and policy support to Kate on social policy issues, including in relation to her roles on the Work and Pensions select committee and the all-party groups on children and poverty.
S/he’ll have first rate writing skills, with the ability to write for different audiences, including the media, will demonstrate the ability to research and synthesise complex technical information, will be alert to and aware of emerging social policy issues, and able to develop relationships and networks with policy and campaigning groups, and to work closely with Kate’s constituency office. An understanding of the parliamentary process would be an advantage. Sympathy for the values of the Labour party and a keen interest in UK social policy, particularly in relation to poverty, discrimination and social exclusion, are prerequisites.
