Hi All,

Can I suggest that this question be posed to the Society's Professional Practice officer, to get full clarification.

We use it in the Wales Centre but I have not heard any councils requiring this. However, it may only apply to England as health is a devolved issue?

Is there anyone out there, using acupuncture in your podiatry practice, who has experience of dealing with the local council? We would like to know of your experiences.

One of our recent graduates has been told that, under the Local Government [Miscellaneous Provisions] Act 1982, they are required to register with the local council, for a fee of £120pa + £11 per practitioner, in order to include acupuncture in their practice. The counter-argument is that they are pracising podiatry, not acupuncture, so this should not apply.

Can anyone throw any light on this?

Thanks in advance
Richard
