Introduction
In order to promote the place of the Humanities and Islamic Studies and encourage the researchers of this field to carry out authentic fundamental-applied research studies, conforming with scientific and local knowledge criteria, and in order to present and commend top researchers and scholars in the Humanities and Islamic Studies domain, the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology is organizing the Fifth Farabi International Award in cooperation with domestic and foreign scientific organizations and institutes.
The Award, including 12 scientific groups, will be held in two sections: Domestic and Foreign.
In the domestic section; scholars’ research works will be assessed at two levels of Adults and Youth (Under 35 Years Old). In the Foreign section, which is specially designated to non-Iranian researchers, only works related to the domain of Iranian and Islamic Civilization and Culture will be admitted.
Subject of the Award
The main subject of the Award is to recognize and introduce top research works in the humanities and Islamic Studies which may be sent to the secretariat of the Award in the form of published, unpublished, academic thesis or any other forms.
In the subsidiary section of the Award, superior research centers, top research leaders, superior scientific research publications, top scientific associations, distinguished translators in Latin & Arabic, superior proofreaders, pioneers of the Humanities in Iran, distinguished biographers, outstanding theorists and authors, distinguished scientific services and pioneer professors (Deceased ones) are introduced and commemorated annually.
Goals of the Award
• Providing grounds and paving the way for the promotion, strengthening and development of the humanities.
• Helping to delineate the importance, application and role of the Humanities in planning and policymaking processes.
• Familiarizing and deepening awareness of the Iranian society about the role of the humanities in the area of science production, culture and civilization building.
• Introducing the scientific potentials of Iran and the Muslim world in the field of the Humanities.
• Identifying and introducing top talents in the field of the Humanities.
• Encouraging the scholars in order to produce indigenous knowledge in the area of the Humanities in Iran and in the Muslim world.
• Providing suitable conditions to encourage and guide young talents to conduct an indigenous, profound, fundamental and applied research studies on the humanities.
• Helping to rethink and re-read mentality and scientific heritage of Iran and the Muslim world in the field of the Humanities.
Scientific Groups of the Award
Farabi International Award consists of twelve scientific groups which cover all areas of the Humanities and Islamic sciences. The scientific council of the Award, consists of heads of scientific groups, is the highest decision making body on scientific affairs of the Award.
Each scientific group consists of 7 or 9 prominent professors and researchers who assess the scientific works during four stages of scientific evaluation under the supervision of the head of the group.
Scientific groups of the Award, in Persian alphabetical order, are as follows:
1. History, Geography and Archeology
2. Law
3. Language and Literature
4. Social and Communication Sciences
5. Economics, Management and Accounting
6. Educational Sciences, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences and Physical Education
7. Political Sciences, International Relations and Regional Studies
8. Jurisprudence, Principles of Islam, Quranic Sciences and Hadith
9. Philosophy, Theosophy, Ethics, Religions and Mysticism
10. Information Technology, Information and Library Sciences
11. Islamic Revolution and Imam Khomeini Studies
12. Arts and Aesthetics Studies
How to participate?
Those who are interested in attending the Award may check the website of the Award, www.farabiaward.ir, during the appointed time; download and fill in the related forms and then send their research works accompanied by other required documents to the secretariat of the Award.

2. Electronic file of the work
3. Filled out participation form
4. Curriculum Vitae
5. A 3×4 cm personal photo
6. A copy of ID (For youth researchers)
Research centers, scientific associations and scientific publications may get relevant forms and information and necessary documents from the web site of the Award.
Important Notes
• Necessary documents should be provided and sent in full. Incomplete documents will not be processed.
• Only the works with research essence will be evaluated.
• Finalized research works are just accepted.
• Works not older than 3 years (done since October 2008 onward) are accepted.
• In case of any change in contact information (e.g. address, phone number etc.) after the work is sent, the secretariat should be informed accordingly.
• Only unpublished failed works will be returned. Published works sent to the Award will be granted to the library of the Research Institute for Social and Cultural Studies. Selected works and works of merit will not be returned under any conditions.
• Research works may be sent by a legal or a real person.
• Translated essays and works are not accepted.
