Colleages
Centre for Interactive Systems Research (CISR) is looking to recruit
research students as part of City Universities drive to increase research
student partcipation at the University.
We consider the interactivity of systems but also the importance of
relevant, engaging, and high quality content in them. CISR specialises in
information retrieval algorithms for effective search and understanding
user information needs. We are able to offer supervision in a number of
different area in IR such as:
- Search algorithms: efficiency and effectiveness
- Web log analysis
- Personalisation
- Collaborative search
- User information needs, user studies
- Human information behaviour
- Context learning algorithms for search
- Context-aware applications
- Ambient, mobile, and context-sensitive technologies
- Multimedia needs and retrieval: music, images, video etc
- Disabilities and search: cognitive and physical disability
- Combinatorial Optimisation Problems in IR
We are a centre within the Deparment of Information Science, which is part
of the School of Informatics. We collaborate with the Centre for Human
Computer Interaction and Design (CHCID) and Department of Computing within
the school on supervising research studies.
If you are interested in research studies in CISR, please contact me in
the first instance.
