Consuming the code of political thrillers reproduces the system of filming
political thrillers. At the James Bond end, especially his latest
incarnation he must travel, fight and screw at breakneck speed as this is
the encroaching code of this type of film making. Lots of handheld, rapidly
edited shots with its accompanying CGI. The story is relegated, but that is
the code; visuals dominate, and a new genre is born. At the other end
Coppola's The Conversation resists and plays with this code. Devoid of CGI
the thriller has less reliance on external scenery but zeros in on the
audio.
