Obamacare is a Government Takeover

On the MSFriends Yahoo Groups list, the list owner shared a post with the
complete text of a Washington Examiner editorial bearing the title
Obamacare is a Government Takeover (Thursday, December 23, 2010, 12:59 PM)

This was cited as an exception to the normal course of events on MSFriends
as political discussions are not generally permitted, but health care
reform is so important to those with multiple sclerosis that this
exception of posting the article forwarded by an author of a book about
Multiple Sclerosis, Tom Bayuk, was permitted. I provided the response
below to this posting of one article about Health Care Reform from a less
than credible source.

Since you now have been recipients of a rather biased Republican oriented
and partisan editorial [from the Washington Examiner] about health care
reform, you may want to read and learn from additional points of view on
this subject using these links:

Washington Examiner, the source of the shared article:

The Washington Examiner
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Washington_Examiner

The Washington Examiner is a free daily newspaper published in Springfield,
Virginia, and distributed in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. It is
owned by Denver billionaire Philip Anschutz.[2]

The newspaper was formerly distributed only in the suburbs of Washington, under
the titles of Montgomery Journal, Prince George's Journal, and Northern
Virginia Journal. Anschutz purchased their parent company, Journal Newspapers
Inc., in October 2004. On February 1, 2005, the paper's name changed to the
Washington Examiner, and it adopted a logo and format similar to that of
another newspaper owned by Anschutz, the San Francisco Examiner.[3] The
Examiner's parent company, Clarity Media Group, also owns the conservative
opinion magazine The Weekly Standard.[4]

Political views

When Anschutz started the Examiner in its current format, he envisioned
creating a conservative competitor to The Washington Post. According to
Politico.com, "When it came to the editorial page, Anschutzs instructions were
explicit he 'wanted nothing but conservative columns and conservative op-ed
writers,' said one former employee." The Examiner's conservative writers
include Byron York (National Review), Michael Barone (American Enterprise
Institute, Fox News), and David Freddoso (National Review, author of The Case
Against Barack Obama). Conservative blogger Matthew Sheffield is in charge of
the Examiner's web site. [9]

The paper endorsed John McCain in the 2008 Presidential election.[10] The paper
endorsed Adrian Fenty in the Democratic primary for mayor in 2010.[11]

Regarding the article shared to the membership of MSFriends by the list owner:

It should be noted that when an article and in particular an article headline
uses politically loaded terminology such as the substitution for the phrase
health care reform with a politcally loaded term used by Republicans and Tea
Party propagandists such as "Obamacare" one can expect a propaganda filled
article to follow. Indeed Fox News, known for very biased reporting in the
direction of Tea Party, Republican and right wing causes and points of view
ordered its commentators to use the phrase government option instead of the
phrase public option in all of its reporting, the same kind of loading of
terminology.

I will also point out that rather than sharing one biased article from a much
less credible source than say the New York Times or the Washington Post, I have
gone to great lengths to create a resource that provides a great deal of
information regarding health care reform as a research guide on the Temple
University Research Guides server.
