As part of the new National Library of Wales blog, archivists have been blogging about their work on the collections of archives and manuscripts.

The blog provides glimpses into the variety of riches available at the Library e.g. Probate records, the Wynnstay estate records, and the Caernarfon Court roles; and interesting characters such as H. M Stanley, Herbert of Cherbury and David Samwell.

So far there are stories about literary archives (such as W. H. Davies, Berta Ruck and Marion Eames), political papers (such as David Lloyd George), medieval manuscripts (such as the Book of Aneirin and the Book of Llandaf), industrial archives, and electronic records.

The blog has now taken on a decidedly Christmassy theme with 18th century recipes for plumb cake, and reports of extravagant parties at the Tredegar estate in the 19th century.
