Dear colleagues,
Hammersmith and Fulham Archives and Local History Centre is considering introducing a paid research service. My line manager has asked me to find out how much other record offices/local studies libraries are earning from such a service. I would be most grateful if anyone could tell me:
How much revenue did you earn in 2009/10 from your research service? This includes research in different types of records, writing up and sending the reports, and photocopies or digital images supplied with the reports, but not reproduction fees or any other kind of charges. In other words, for a fairly straightforward remote enquiry service only.
In order to make sense of the data I will also need to know the number of research requests you fulfilled in that year; and I need to know your scale of charges. Hopefully you can simply give me a link to the relevant part of your website. I will keep the information about income confidential.
I realise this is a bit of a tall order, but needs must when the boss requires! Brief data will suffice, and any help will be gratefully received.
