After a major refurbishment of the University of Stirling Library we are pleased to announce the opening of a new archives and special collections area where our historical collections will, for the first time, be fully accessible to researchers. This area includes a reading room for the consultation of archives and rare books; a new exhibition space where material from our collections will be displayed; and a new environmentally-controlled store which will contribute towards the continued preservation of our collections. To coincide with the opening of the new archives area we are also launching our new online archives catalogue. Using the CALM View system the catalogue provides online access to our archive catalogue. At present the catalogue provides full details down to item-level of the papers of the film director Lindsay Anderson but additional information about our other collections will be added over the coming months. And as I look out my window at the snow falling can I also draw your attention to our advent calendar which highlights the wide variety of material held in the library’s archives and special collections.
