Post Doctoral Researcher / Research Assistant
Clinical Officer Surgical Training in Africa (COST-Africa) – a randomised controlled trial.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Post Doctoral Researcher / Research Assistant in this five year research project: Clinical Officer Surgical Training in Africa (COST-Africa). This cluster randomised controlled trial project will design, implement and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of a surgical training programme at the district hospital level in Malawi and Zambia.
The post-holder will have joint responsibility for the following research activities, working closely with counter part country level researchers: evaluating existing health facility information systems; establishing data collection systems; training & supervising hospital information officers; designing, drafting and piloting data collection tools; supervising data collection, data entry, data quality control and data cleaning; and data analysis.
The post-holder will participate in the authoring of research outputs (journal articles, conferences, etc.) and will be supported by experienced RCSI-based biostatisticians. S/he will also provide support to the Principle Investigator (Prof Brugha) and a project Research Fellow.
The successful candidate will be appointed on the Post Doctoral Researcher scale (see below) or the Research Assistant scale, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a Dublin-based position. However the post-holder will be required to spend sufficient time in Malawi and Zambia to ensure project objectives are achieved.
Salary Scale €28,509 to €46,255
