Greetings!

I have ben selling occult books for more than 20 years and, in recent
years, I have increasingly turned to publishing, mostly under the
Society of Esoteric Endeavour imprint.

There has been discussion about the interaction of the academic and the
practitioner on this list. It is clearly a complex issue. It occurs to
me that, in their academic studies, researchers may come across texts
that would be of interest to the practitioner. I am seeking texts of
this nature to publish. My desire is to produce books that have a
numinous presence, and that have talismanic nature. I work with a
bookbinder, so there is the opportunity to produce imaginative formats
and utilise appropriate but unusual materials. I am very interested in
grimoires, but would certainly consider other texts.

I pay 200 UK Pounds or 10% of my selling price, whichever is more, to
someone who translates a suitable text which I have provided. This being
paid after publication. Accordingly I will pay rather more than that if
someone both locates and translates a suitable text. I am very
interested in the opportunities provided by publishing the first English
translation of an interesting work.
Commentaries are welcome, where they help communicate the view point of
the original writer.

I am not interested in producing academic works. I prefer books that,
hopefully, people consider magical books, rather than books about magic.

I am also interested in new magical works, though there will be a great
many worthy works suitable for other publishers that would not be right
for me. If one was to arise, I would work on a profit share of 50/50
with the author.

Texts can be quite short, as this can mean the resultant book is smaller
and affordable to more people.

It is fine if people might want work to be issued anonymously. I have
recently discovered how liberating it is to write for publication,
knowing that ones name will not be given, and I don't have any kind of
academic reputation to maintain!

I am not lacking publication projects but I thought I ought to mention
this, just in case someone has, perhaps, already come across something,
or written a text, and this rings a bell.

Also, I always greatly appreciate any suggestions as to what might be a
good text to publish!

With my best wishes

Ben
