Hi - at the Ashmolean Museum we have used Keepthinking (
http://www.keepthinking.it/ ) Digital Design, an agency based in London, to
develop the "Eastern Art Online" website, launched earlier this year (see:
http://jameelcentre.ashmolean.org ). We have been very pleased with the work
they have done for us, both in dealing with our complex data and in
producing what we consider to be a user-friendly and attractive site design.
We have found them to be very professional to deal with and they have a good
understanding of the issues facing the cultural heritage sector.
Subsequently They have also been engaged on another project at the Ashmolean
to redevelop "The Elements of Drawing" (current website not by
Keepthinking), which is the definitive resource for the John Ruskin's
drawing school at Oxford University in the second part of the ninetinth
century. This is due to (re)launch early in 2010, but the initial designs
we have seen for this look excellent.
Underpinning both websites is a well-thought out Content Management System,
develop in-house by Keepthinking, and they've been developing this much
further into a full-fledged online Collection Management System, as part of
a major project for the Public Catalogue Foundation (
http://www.thepcf.org.uk/ ), which looks like a very exciting development.
Hope this helps!
regards
Paul
