"Psychology of Risk In Relation To Driver and Traveller Behaviour"

About the seminar:
The seminar is on risk perception and travel, including choice of mode of transport. It is primarily from a psychological perspective although there are interdisciplinary elements in the study if risk crosses disciplinary boundaries.
About the presenter:
Joan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at Newcastle University. She is a chartered psychologist who qualified is the area of occupational psychology. Her background is as an applied Psychologist, working, in research terms, primarily in risk and culture.
Her special area of research interest involves risk and safety, from the perspectives of work, health and consumer behaviour. She is also involved in a major programme funded by the EU which involves cross-cultural psychology applied to engineering designers from different countries working collaboratively. A lot of her earlier research was in safety culture and risk perception.
She teaches a module in consumer psychology and also interpersonal behaviour and behavioural sciences.

The TORG seminars are intended to disseminate ongoing research and encourage detailed discussions of a diverse range of transport topics in an informal environment.
