Paris, 1st & 2nd July 2011
Organiser: Dr. David Forrest (Glasgow)
Assistant: Dr. Gareth Evans (Newcastle)
Geospatial Public Transport Information is primarily concerned with the provision of information about the where element of Public Transport information. This information can be delivered through a variety of media, from the more 'traditional' printed static information through to dynamic, electronic information, given the increasing number of PDAs/smart-phones, applications and real-time systems now available to the traveller.
This is the first international workshop focusing on the use and usability of Public Transport maps, websites and mobile services. This 2 day event will incorporate presentations, discussion sessions, a display of maps and websites. It is also planned to include a practical session evaluating information use in the Public Transport system itself.
It is planned to have a mixed programme of presentations, demonstrations and poster sessions:
* Paper presentations: a 15 minute presentation + questions; 1000 word extended abstract required.
* Demonstrations of on-line transport information systems: an 8 minute presentation + questions; 500 word abstract required.
* Poster sessions: a 2 minute introduction to poster at start of viewing session; 500 word abstract required.
We also plan to incorporate some active user testing of the Public Transport Information available in Paris. Can you find your way or will you get lost?
Key dates for this workshop are:
* 15 February 2011: deadline for submission of abstracts for papers, demonstrations and posters
* 15 April 2011: notification of acceptance of papers, demonstrations and posters for presentation
* 15 May 2011: deadline for early registration
* 1 June 2011: deadline for submission of revised extended abstracts
* 1 June 2011: deadline for submission of maps for map exhibition
* 1 & 2 July 2011: Workshop in Paris
The venue in Paris and costs are still to be determined, information will be provided as soon as possible. We hope to gain the support of commercial providers to help offset costs, so offers or suggestions are most welcome.
Please circulate this information widely to those with interests in Public Transport and User Issues.
Abstracts should be sent to: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> who can also be contacted for further information.
