Health Statistics Users Group
Follow up to Mini-Workshop on 16th November 2010
The workshop that was held on 16th November provided an opportunity for participants to learn about, and comment on, a first cut of strategic priorities for health and social care statistics, identified by the Health and Social Care Theme. The results of this workshop will have an impact on the prioritisation of work at national level in the area of health and social care statistics - what needs to be maintained, supported or developed, and what areas could possibly be reduced to cope with budget constraints.
The workshop was designed as an open and flexible user engagement process, at an early stage of developing the priorities, rather than a formal consultation on strategic priorities that had already been developed.
The next step in this user engagement process is making the outputs from the workshop available on the HSUG web site, for further comment from users. This is intended to allow users who were not able to attend the workshop to contribute to the process, as well as allowing workshop participants to check that their views have been correctly reported, and to add any additional comments that they may have.
If you want to have an impact on the prioritisation of work at national level in the area of health and social care statistics then you can do this by going to the HSUG web site www.hsug.org.uk<http://www.hsug.org.uk/> and following the link to emerging strategic priorities on health and social care statistics. You can also go directly to the report of the workshop at http://www.rss.org.uk/main.asp?page=3227 or go directly to the user survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BRCR39S
This will allow you to view the outputs from the workshop, and make your own comments, and we encourage as many people as possible to participate in this user engagement initiative.
Comments received at the workshop are being included in the HSUG response to the consultation on the ONS work programme. The workshop output, together with any user comments made via the web site by 9th January 2011, will be taken into account in the HSUG response to the consultation on the DH Information Strategy. All user comments received by the end of January 2011 will feed in to the annual statement of strategic priorities for official statistics on health and social care
