Re your eating a Minstrel question, the answer is 'no' per se. However,
should that person, having eaten the Minstrel then kiss the sufferer
(unlikely, I guess!) there could be a reaction. There was a case of a young
man waiting at Heathrow for his girlfriend to arrive from Glasgow. She was
highly allergic to peanuts. Flight delayed. He went for a drink in the bar
and in the process ate a few peanuts. On her arrival he kissed her,
whereupon she reacted to the traces of peanuts on his lips! Extreme case, I
admit, but it can happen.
The simple fact is that for the reaction to happen there must be contact
between the individual and the causative substance at a certain level and in
a form that molecules of the substance can reach the cells in the immune
system and elicit the reaction.
I suspect, in line with other comments on this forum, that there is some
underlying reason for the statement and that this needs identifying so that
appropriate remedial action can be taken. However, my first step would still
be to ensure that I have the real facts regarding the allergy and the 7
metre statement.
