I have just returned home from my father's funeral in Durham today. Alison Tymon of Huddersfield Geology Group was also carrying the flag for YGS and was able to be there to remember David. Along with Albert Wilson, Ian Burgess, Don Frost and others, ex BGS. I did not write down your names - no pens in my pockets !!!! Something Dad was never without! Thankyou for coming.

I am lapsed member of HGG ( now living the wrong side of Leeds). Catching 
up with Alison, she said that many of David's former BGS co-geologists had 
posted, many complements about Dad. I am not certain were or the how! 

Could a post be broadcast encourageing their e-mails to my e-mail address so 
that I can pass them on.??  
  
I am sure my step-mother and my brothers Andrew and Nick, and the rest of the 
family would be pleased and comforted to read their kind words.

Alison Tymon delighted in telling David's grandson, Sam that he is on a 
geological site board. I can confirm that the small figure ( aged 5 in the 
photo) with geological hammer! on the South Cave board,  named, Sam Land,  is David Land's grandson. David's other grandchild is Sam's older sister Emily. 

Visits to a beach, are for Emily and Sam ( and me ) a time to pick up 
interesting pebbles and fossils, which we shared with David.    Before he became unwell, he would tell us what had been found, or hazard a guess!
My father suffered from Parkinson's for the last years of a long life, he died 
aged 83.

It stopped him from his quest to find out more about history, railways,  oh! 
and his lifelong passion Geology.

If this is at all possible I am sure all the family would be both pleased and 
comforted,
