With regard to the previous message on this thread, I am pleased to share (below under the signature) the prompt answer received by Jisc Helpline that says list owners may have removed messages that not show up in the results searching the archives.
This seems a quite sensible explanation. It is true? if it is, can we know publicly why the message was removed? (full headers and content are in a PDF I have uploaded at http://brunellalongo.it/pics/RECORDS-MANAGEMENT-UK-20101001-0037.pdf - the directory is not accessible by crawlers).
Finally, could it be possible to have an explicit editorial policy and / or rules defined in order to be aware in advance of what subjects are not to be discussed? Otherwise we risk to make ourselves in the position to self-censor any attempt of collaboration for the sake of the tranquillity. As I have just said on another list (apologies for multiple posting!) I have found an excellent resource at http://www.yourmorals.org/ in order to understand what type of moral psychological profile we have. My points on a scale of 5 are
- care/harm 4.2
- fairness 4.3
- respect for authority 3
- loyalty 2.3
- purity/castity etc 0.8
That means my collaborative attitude may be a bit more "risky" of breaking conventions and habits than the average but usually I am quite transparent about the intent of the action that really do not harm anybody but the status quo, making more explicit and therefore subject to possible review and change what almost everybody already knows. But I am very happy to conform to rules, if they exist, or to write them when they are missing with no loyalty for the conventions. Apologies for any inconvenience. I do not like my messages to be deleted without any warning.
Regards
Brunella Longo
