The Center for Astrobiology (CAB) and the National Astronomical Observatory
(OAN) announce the opening of the Postdoctoral CONSOLIDER Program "Molecular
Astrophysics: The Herschel and ALMA Era". This position will be awarded to a
scientist displaying significant promise in observational astrophysics in
the area of millimeter and sub-millimeter extragalactic astronomy. The
successful applicants will work with Santiago Garcia-Burillo and Jose
Cernicharo on several research lines:
-1/Study of molecular gas chemistry in starbursts and AGNs at low and high
redshift.
-2/The feeding of nuclear activity in galaxies: The NUclei of GAlaxies (NUGA)
project.
-3/Study of AGN feedback in radio galaxies
The postdoc will participate in the reduction and modelling of data obtained
with mm-wave interferometers. These observations are part of the preparatory
work for the exploitation of future facilities like NOEMA (upgraded IRAM
array) and ALMA. Appointments are for 2 years starting during June-September
2011. The gross annual pre-tax income is about 37000 EUR. Funds are available
to cover travel expenses. Health insurance and social security payments are
all included in the salary. Applicants must have a PhD in astronomy or
theoretical physics. Applicants have to send a CV, statements of research
